It has been more than 3 years I wrote something in my website. Today I will share with you how I moved my WordPress to new website and redirect blogger page to new home. I had to moved my old WordPress abouthealthydrinks.com to new aninkitchen.com. The reason for moving page is I am writing about cooking and not only about healthy drinks. Hope you guy will support my work in the future.
Blogger is the first page and they have all history, index, time table for Google search. I do need to keep my blogger page and I recommend you guys keep control of your blogger page. Do not delete everything in a blogger even if you move everything to a new page. Redirect your traffic to a new website and it will save you a lot of time later.Today I will share with you steps by steps I moved my page. You also can fix 404 redirect trouble with simple code.
I had to download old WordPress file first. Then I have to redirect my old blogger post from abouthealthydrinks.blogpost.com to aninkitchen.com. That is why it will be little bit more complicated than only redirecting.
1. Backup WordPress/ blogger
Blogger: Setting/ Manage blog / Back up content / Download
WordPress: Tools / Export / All content.
2. Import old WordPress file to new WordPress account
Tools/ Import / Blogger (you can download it in plugin and only import blogger after you finish redirect steps)
WordPress run importer
Categories and tags converter / click on whatever you want.
3. Reclaiming your new page to GoogleSearch Console
Google Search Console/Search Property/Add Property
Enter your own website name then click on verify website
Then you have one open box Verify domain ownership via DNS record.
You can see the copy the TXT record to DNS configuration for www.yournewwebsite.com
4. Adding Google TXT to your domain
Go back to your domain hosting company page. Log into your account and Find the Domain Name System (DNS) in the control panel. On my website I cannot find it and only find it in Domain column.
Domain Name System /Then you go to find TXT line. Add new text line to the TXT line in DNS control panel and save it.
Then you can go back to the Google Search console and click on verify. Google will verify it very fast 1 or 2 minutes then everything is ready. Google said in a bad case it might take you some days.
After verifing, your new website will appear on Property in Google search Console.
5. Redirect Blogger to new WordPress page
Go to Theme/ custom (Modified)/ Edit HTML
Then you can see the HTML page for your whole blogger. Do not worry you can handle that small lines. I can show you what I do.
You read from the beginning to the line 4 when you see the <head>
Then you go down there and page these code
<meta content=’0;url=https://www.yourwebsite.com‘ http-equiv=’refresh’/>
If this is the first time you redirect your blogger to new website you just click on Save.
Close the HTML page and go back to blogger page and click on view site. Then you can see your redirect page work quite ok already.
3 year ago I redirected my blogger to my old page
http://www.abouthealthydrinks.com and now I changed it to a new page so I have to do more work than you. Some of you might have the same trouble with me so I share with you what I do too.
First I have to read all the lines in HTML page and changed all the old websites to a new one .
Remember to write down or copy your whole domain name to HTML or bloggers do not redirect to your new website.
Read all the lines carefully and change it from the lines 4-18.
Then go down to the end of the page and change the old domain to the new one too. My page is from line 873 to 889.
However, remember to read all the lines and change it when you see the old domain name in the line.
Then save it. Then come back and check if it works properly or not.
If it is ok then congratulations you redirect your blogger to the new website.
6. Redirect blogger to Homepage not 404 page
My blogger redirected to a 404 page with very nice sentences. The page you are looking for is not here. I had to google and try to fix my problem. I found one code that help blogger redirect to my main page
<script> window.location.href = "http://www.yoururl.com/"; </script>
You can copy this script and change the website name to your website.
Log-in into blogger and go to:
Settings > Search Preferences and set the Custom Redirects. You also have the option to choose Permanent or Temporary redirection.
All these steps helped me move my blogger page to a new page. It took me 4 days to ask and google how to fix these troubles. You guys might think oh this almost dead page does not have anything special. I did think so but when I checked my statistics I found out that my page has more than 240.000 views. That is a super impressive number for me. I do appreciate your guys’ support and I do not want to waste my hard writing posts.
